「MONO.LOGUES」, an alternative art space, opened last November in an apartment in a quiet residential area close to Nakano Station in Tokyo. This time we are pleased to announce the opening of "Touch the heat", a solo exhibition by Reina Mikame, the first in a series of exhibitions at the space.
Reina Mikame is a painter with a strong obsession with human perception, and her consistent research theme is light. In this exhibition, she takes on the challenge to pursue a theme "heat" by developing from the light. She has set herself the task of repeating the daily discipline of sketching and drawing, creating a density of emotion, and reflecting it in her works through her paintbrush. This attitude reveals her sincere pursuit of "perception" that cannot be easily defined in words.
The works in this exhibition focus on the accumulation of a kind of graceful, yet sturdy everyday life of the ever-evolving painter Reina Mikame. Her paintings, which move back and forth between abstraction and figuration, reflect it lyrically on substrate and this may accord the act to confirm the invisible that exists.
How the heat she touches traces in a mortar-covered space of MONO. LOGUES, please come to see it with your own eyes.
